As we mentioned in the previous article about beekeeping on Lake Iseo (click HERE to read it now), the microclimate of this area supports the work of many passionate beekeepers. Here below, let’s discover one we warmly recommend you visit: Apicoltura Guerrini in Pisogne.

Apicoltura Guerrini is run by the Guerrini family, particularly Mauro and his wife Michela. As a teenager, Mauro began following a few hives inspired by his father. Over time, driven by growing passion, beekeeping has become his second profession for nearly twenty years.

Thanks to his studies, he has developed excellent knowledge and follows his hives with great care. Their number has steadily increased, reaching around 70, all located in the surrounding areas.
His operational base — a small workshop for processing and packaging, as well as a shop — is located in Pisogne, a perfect position for placing hives in different environments: near the lake, in pristine low altitude areas rich in biodiversity, on the first hills where chestnut or acacia trees grow, and even in the higher mountains of Valle Camonica or the Orobic Prealps. This variety of habitats allows the small and industrious bees to produce many different types of honey.

Techniques and Care: the Professionalism of Guerrini Beekeeping
Behind the sweetness of Guerrini honey lies meticulous work, made of precise technical choices and constant attention to the health of the bees. The company follows modern and sustainable beekeeping practices that combine tradition and innovation.
- Regularly monitored hives, to check colony health and prevent diseases.
- Natural and non-invasive treatments, fully respecting the bees’ biological cycle.
- Cold honey extraction, preserving aromas, enzymes, and nutritional properties.
- Periodic honey analyses, ensuring purity and quality.
- Strategic placement of apiaries, far from pollution sources and in areas rich in biodiversity.

These technical aspects reveal a reality that does far more than simply “make honey”: it works with method, expertise, and responsibility. It shows how even a small local business can operate with high standards, becoming a reference point for those seeking authentic and quality products.
Honeys that Speak of the Territory
Every jar from Guerrini Beekeeping tells the story of a specific habitat of Lake Iseo or its surroundings:
- Chestnut Honey — dark and aromatic, with a persistent flavor, rich in antioxidants and minerals, produced near local chestnut groves.
- Acacia Honey — clear and delicate, perfect for those who prefer a honey that sweetens without altering flavors.
- Classic or Alpine Wildflower Honey — carrying the freshness and complexity of diverse blooms, whether from low altitudes or high mountain pastures.
- Dandelion Honey — pungent in taste and intense in color, highly nutritious thanks to its high pollen content.
- Rhododendron Honey — a rarer product, fine and delicate, with a slightly fruity taste, typically produced at high altitude.
- Honeydew Honey — produced from honeydew, a substance secreted by plants; darker, balsamic, and rich in mineral salts.

All of Mauro’s products are genuine and unpasteurized, preserving their nutritional properties and the original fragrance of the flower.

Some varieties crystallize quickly, others more slowly, but it is important to know that crystallization is a natural process found in high quality organic honey.
Every year, at least one of Mauro’s honeys receives awards following laboratory analyses that verify its nutritional qualities.
The importance of Supporting Local Producers
Buying local honey is not just a matter of taste: it is a gesture that supports biodiversity, the local economy, and those who work with passion to preserve precious traditions. Apicoltura Guerrini is a reality that deserves to be known, because it represents the commitment of an entire family. By helping Mauro labelling the jars of freshly harvested honey or accompanying him during hive inspections, they allow us to glimpse the everyday gestures that preserve the traditional soul of Lake Iseo.
